These days programming is still all about logic and commands, and there are several different programming languages (Python, Java, JavaScript, and more), and you can create programming on lots of different devices to design websites, cyber security, games, apps, AI….the list is endless. Not sure Cobol is still around, as there are many new languages and technology has progressed since my experiences. I also remember the frustration if something was wrong and/or if you dropped the stack of cards with your program on them and commands got out of order!!! I remember love the logic of creating a series of commands to make the computer do something. I happened to be in accounting at the time (a short-lived career path after I realized accounting is more about law than mathematics!).
In college, and this was a very long time ago – we still had to use punch cards for the computer (no laptops or PC’s!!) – I remember taking a Cobol Programming course, which was a programming language for business. I am admitting up front that I know very little about programming.
